Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims… This is from 1 Peter 2:11. I read this and it made me think. We are to be in this world but not of this world. Our Kingdom is not of this world like Jesus told Pilate. We are basically full time campers if you want to look at it look that. We are travelers, strangers and pilgrims. We technically don’t have a home until we go home permanently. We are camping. Do you get my point?
Let me ask you a question? When you go on vacation somewhere you aren’t familiar with, how do you feel? How do you act? I bet most of the time you feel happy and dare I say happier than when you’re at “home”. Are you more polite or friendlier with complete strangers than you are with your neighbors? Do you tend to talk more to others ie strangers when you’re just “passing through” for your vacation?
Do you see what I’m getting at? Maybe we should get the mindset that we are literally camping or vacationing on a daily basis. Maybe we should treat our daily lives as strangers, sojourners and pilgrims…just having a daily vacation. Love your neighbors. Love GOD. Be like Jesus.
